Ipad2 not displaying safari pages and cannot connect to app store
After working in the IT industry for over 20 years on both windows and Linux, I thought apple was never going to really be worth learning from the bowls like I know the other two.
I have worked with apple in businesses for many years with the art departments creating networks that shared themselves with the primary work o/s windows. This was challenging in the older days, however quite simple today.
Now there is no disputing now, since the birth of the iPad, apple is creeping much faster into business with it’s simplicity and well designed purpose, what rep doesn’t want one for example? Anyone can set them up, they are simple to use, instant on and good battery. The tablet is by no means new to the world, however apple was smart with marketing and made it appear theirs, they then added their flavor to it. Kudo’s to them, it’s fantastic unrivaled product for now…
So after supporting many iPads within my customer base with very little problems cracked screens and being misplaced, I decided to buy one for myself. So I toddled off to all my suppliers and the major retailers to compare prices an giveaways. Naturally I used my channel in the end and am happy that I saved a few measly dollars and picked up some window shopping retail therapy to keep my thoughts honest.
As soon as I got home I got straight into it, explored every possible option in the settings screen. I was pretty happy that I had it as well configured and useable as the iPad could be, until I started getting the safari page cannot be displayed or cannot connect to app store series of messages.
I googled for a whole week on how to rectify the problem, which just made me more and more frustrated cause the iPad kept telling me I could not view the pages.
After a week I put it down and told myself their must be an issue with the iPad and I can’t believe no one has a logical working solution to it. After all what good is an iPad without the app store to download apps? It almost renders itself useless. Especially the wi-fi only ones.
Just for the record, my PC’s all worked ok and my Android devices had no problems, even safari on pc worked. It was easy to blame Apple and seemed to fit with the pessemists of the apple world.
It wasn’t until I wanted to read an article in bed one morning that I picked the iPad up again and thought there has to be a simple solution, after all that’s the only reason I bought it in the first place.
THE SOLUTION came to me almost like the wind changing.
As discussed I had exhausted the settings options on my iPad and I had quickly checked all the DNS, IP and MTU setting on my router as well. Then it finally dawned on me an option that I had overlooked.
It was a simple mistake as I normally am configuring business grade routers and firewalls.
To fix the problem and I have not had a drop out since, all I had to do was change the regional and date settings on the router to Australia, Brisbane which is my proper time zone, date and time.
It just goes to show that you can learn old tricks many times and never assumes you have it right in the first place, it just makes you ignorant.
So thanks for reading my vent and I hope it fixes your issue with Apple ipad2 Not displaying safari pages or the App Store.
